Patients will see dramatically whiter teeth in 3 days, full results in 7-10.*
How do my patients use the Colgate® Optic White™ Professional Whitening Take-home Kits?
Detailed usage Patient Instructions and Dentist Instructions are included with each kit. Please review all instructions before supplying patients with the kit. The kit is used once a day for 30 minutes, for up to 7 days. Mouth trays should be cleaned and rinsed before and after each treatment. Patients must thoroughly brush teeth with fluoride toothpaste, such as Colgate® Optic White™ toothpaste, before placing the trays into the mouth (with the whitening gel applied to the trays). Patients must avoid overfilling their tray and must remove excess gel to minimize potential gum irritation. After use, patients must brush teeth with a wet toothbrush to remove any residual whitening gel.
How is the mouthpiece custom fit?
For personalized results, a whitening tray must be fabricated at your practice. Steps for fabrication are included in the Dentist Instructions contained in each kit. Scalloping and trimming the tray is very important to minimize potential gingival irritation. Each kit includes a case for the tray.
How can I help my patients get optimum results?
Attention must be given to tray design. Peroxide that oozes out of the tray and is left in contact with soft tissue may cause irritation. Scalloping of trays is recommended to reduce tissue contact. Advise patients to remove any excess gel with an absorbent material after placing trays over teeth. Patients should refrain from eating and drinking during and for 30 minutes after treatment.
Tobacco as well as coffee, colas, and red wine should be avoided during the treatment period. Have your patient schedule any necessary check-‐up appointments.
Is the kit right for my patients?
The kit is for patients with normal oral health. The Colgate® Optic White™ Professional Whitening Take-home Kit is not to be used during pregnancy or while nursing. Thoroughly evaluate a patient's oral health and discuss desired whitening level. Composite fillings and restorations will not be negatively affected or whitened. The kit should be used prior to placement of composites, veneers, and/or crowns, and bridges to allow for proper matching.
Which is the appropriate whitening formula for my patient?
The Colgate® Optic White™ Professional Whitening Take-home Kits are available in 7% and 9% hydrogen peroxide solutions. Discuss the amount of whitening level desired with each patient. The amount of whitening will depend on the type and level of staining. Provide individual patient direction as you see fit based on patient needs. The kit may be used up to 7 times, once a day for 30 minutes.
